A Trans-Atlantic creative collaboration with Sarah Lisette Chiesa, Sono Loro/They are Them interrogates the body and the shell of gender as a construct that we wear as a suit of armor. When that barrier is shed, what might we share more authentically with the rest of the world?
A collision of Sarah and Brandon's individual choreographic research, this process serves as yet another point of intersection between the two. With prior intersections happening at UNCSA and in their shared time as members of Shen Wei Dance Arts. Sarah's plaster body casting process--seen in Yolanda Did, and other works--grounds the work as scenographic elements of costume, set, and prop simultaneously.
